Important - Download Purchasers!
UPDATE: 6/19/12 - I have been continuously editing the download and installation instructions based on feedback from customers and things I have discovered while helping people. There are so many variables that can make it difficult for a one size fits all set of instructions, especially with people running different versions of Windows and security settings on your network or computer that can make downloading the files difficult. I am BEGGING you to download and read the instructions completely prior to deciding to buy a download. They are reasonably easy to follow, but they might be confusing for some people. If you have ANY doubts about doing this on your own, PLEASE just pay the extra $3 (plus a stamp) and mail your card to me. I will load it for you quickly, get you up and running with just a few days turnaround time. It will save you and me time, and headaches in the long run. Thanks in advance! Okay, so read the post below, then download the instructions. They are the exact same instructions you will receive when you download the Android files.
********************************************** ORIGINAL POST: Hello Everyone, The download service has only been offered for a few days, but there is a trend I need to make you aware of. I realize not everyone is at the same level of proficiency using the computer and I tried not make assumptions when I created the instructions. I have no problem walking customers through the instructions if necessary. I always appreciate feedback, though, so if I can make changes that will make things easier for the next guy, please let me know. Anyway, the majority of problems I get are due to the customer not buying the right card (they buy a tablet card or download for a nook color or vice versa), or there is a problem with their card. Out of approximately 40 downloads, there are only 2 customers I have not been able to get working yet, and I am not convinced yet that it is not their card. Customers using non-SanDisk cards is the main cause so far. The card accepted the load, but it did not boot to Android: PNY cards - 5 customers not working Transcend - 3 not working Kingston - 2 not working Lexar - 1 not working HC - 1 not working Patriot - 1 not working In each case above, when they bought SanDisk cards, the load went through and the card booted up normally the first time. SanDisk Class 4 is the only card I sell and the only one I recommend. Class 10 may seem like it is a better card because it is faster, but you will actually have problems because it is made to store and play large media files and Android O/S performs a bunch of small file read/write actions. Another issue is the cardreader. I HIGHLY recommend a USB card reader. The non-USB SD adapters that come with some of the AndroidForNook cards or one you may have at home may not work. Frequently they cause the WinDisk32 program to show an "error 8, unable to get a handle on the device" when trying to WRITE to the card. Close all other programs and if you are still getting that when you click on WRITE, then it is most likey your cardreader. Get a USB adapter and try it again. ATTENTION TABLET OWNERS: Some Nook Tablets are unable to boot into Android unless they are plugged into the wall as if you were charging the battery or if you plug it into your PC when the PC is turned on. This is a Nook limitation, not the card. You can unplug the Nook as soon as it boots to Android, but if you turn it off, you will need to plug it in again before you boot to Android. See the Tips and Tricks section on this topic. Forum member PJL discovered that after the Nook has completed a charging session, you can unplug the power cable quickly as soon as the Nook turns on and you see the "n" and from that point on you do not need the cable to boot into Android, until the next time you charge it. You may get an "error 8" message when you first start the windisk32 program. It is because you either have another program open, or the windisk32 program is trying to read a drive besides the micro SD card. Just close all other programs, restart the Win32 disk imager program, then click the down arrow to select your micro SD drive letter. If you continue to get "error 8" messages, try a different card reader, PC or even your Nook as a card reader (plug your Nook into the PC via the USB cable with your card inserted). I will attempt to help each customer as much as I can, but I am spending an enormous amount of time trying to diagnose a problem, when the only indication I am getting is pointing to a bad card (non-SanDisk class 4). I hate to tell a customer that they need to get a new card, but I cannot spend forever trying to find a solution when I believe it doesn't exist otherwise. If you do not have a SanDisk card and I have tried to help you and believe you need to get one, I will not be able to spend more time trying to get your non-SanDisk card to work. Your options at this point: 1. Get a refund 2. Go out and buy a SanDisk class 4 card (walmart is cheap, but my blank cards are even cheaper) 3. Buy a preloaded card from me (you already spent $9.99 towards it) I will send it to you loaded with your software. Read the download instructions below (attached) before you decide to buy this service. Unregistered guests can download the directions here. |

RE: Important - Download Purchasers!
My disc does not work. I have purchased a new disc and a card reader. When I get the disc, if it is OK, I will send it to you to be redone. Hopefully when I get it back it will work.

RE: Important - Download Purchasers!
Quick question - if and when CM7 is updated or upgraded to newer CM version (currently CM9 is in testing) - will we be able to get a "free upgrade (download)"?
Thanks for the assistance. Great work here! |

RE: Important - Download Purchasers!
So I'm reading the download instructions and it says to use a USB reader, not a SD. All of the USB readers I'm seeing are "USB SD" (I assume it requires the adapter), for example this one from Amazon that comes with the recommended card:
Sandisk 32GB Class 4 MicroSDHC MicroSD C4 TF Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter and USB SD Card Reader / Writer #R13 (Bulk Packaged) - Will it work with your download?? Thanks. |

Yep, that will work just fine. Several customers report that the SD adapters work too, but my experience is if you don't have a SanDisk card you might have trouble with the SD adapter. They seem to take the load okay, but then it either won't boot into android or does some funkey stuff.
